Intro: "And you want to turn pirate yourself, is that it?" Or how about an officer in His Majesty's Royal Navy? Perhaps a damsel in distress? If you liked Pirates of the Caribbean, why not live it?
RPG is a game, as the name says, and we enjoy having fun but we do take our writing seriously. We are open to both beginners and experienced RPers but have an application process and expect a certain level of writing skills. We don't expect you to write posts a mile long, but we do keep a bit of quality control over the characters we accept (no Mary Sues, thank you!), and we ensure that there is no godmodding or threadjacking of any kind.
We have a limit on the number of female pirates that will be accepted and are currently looking for male pirates to help fill out our existing crews.
Plot/Timeline
Pirate's Cache does NOT consider DMC or AWE canon for all plots Pirate's Cache does NOT have a board-wide plot There are various plots and various timelines throughout the forum The Port Royal and Tortuga timelines are generally set between CotBP and DMC with a supposed Barbossa resurrection The Tales from the Four Winds and The Godforsaken Spit of Land forums can have any number of timelines depending on each individual story created
The year is 2081, over seventy years have passed since magic returned to the world. Elves, dwarves, orcs, troll, among many other "mythical" creatures have turned into their true forms, casting off humanity. This event, known as the Awakening, forever changed the face of the planet, indeed, reality itself.
The years following the awakening was not a good time. The global culture shock plunged the world into darkness, despair, and chaos as order crumbled. Cultures that attempted to stay true to their mystical heritage now found it in their power to wield magic again, and they took revenge against those entities that oppressed them for so long. The great nations which used technology were unprepared to defend themselves adequately against the new powers. Wars raged between the tech users and the magic users. A mysterious virus collapsed the vast telecommunications network silencing all global communications, dragons roamed the skys, and clashes between demi-humans and humans were a common occurance.
The face of earth, civilization itself was almost lost. But out of the smoke and silence, a new social order evolved. Unstable but resiliant was this order. Ecogroups used their powers to wage war on polluters and heal the earth. Former superpowers shattered into smaller nations and city-states, as fear rose, so did the divide between those of separate backgrounds. Metroplexes - vast metropolitan sprawls - began to cover the landscape as well, literally creating massive urban jungles, a ecosystem of its own right.
Megacorporations became the new world superpowers, governed by their own laws, their own citizenship. They house their corporate families in secure enclaves and compounds, safe behind walls of security and indoctrination. Outside of these arcology walls and gated communities, the rift between the privlaged and the forgotten was horrifically aparent. Gangs rule the streets, and organized crime rules the underworld. Still the unprivalaged masses grew, and these dregs of society, these outcasts and rebels survived on pure predatory instinct squatting in long abandoned buildings and compounds. And indeed, in their own way, flourished.
In spite of the advent of magic, the Megacorporations saw to the expansion of technology, and amidst the storm of chaos, technology exploded. Just as magic changed the very being of people, so did technology. It became commonplace for people, both inside and outside the Metroplexes to augment themselves through cyborgization (excluding, of course, those who sold themselves to the ways of magic). Cyberware was indeed the second path of evolution, diverging from magic. Some people acquired implants that allowed them to interface directly with machines. Others sought to push the envelope of their physical capabilities, testing themselves in the urban jungle against other “street samurai.” Humans and metahumans alike became stronger, smarter, and faster.
They world has grown to adapt both magic and technology, both roads seen as little more than tools to get by in todays society. The year is 2081, and the Megacorporations still hold the world in the palm of their hands, contesting with each other of credits, influence, and power. It is in the rifts between these Megacorporations that a Shadowrunner makes a living. In a time and society where self-sufficiency is vital, and dependence is as good as death the Shadowrunners are professional soldiers. And there is always various... enterprises that the megacorps need done but they don't want to dirty their hands. Instead they hire Shadowrunners, the perfect deniable asset. Though shadowrunners “exist” in only the most classified of government and corporate databases, the demand for their services is high. Deckers are employed to slide like whispers through the visualized databases of giant corporations, spiriting away the only thing of real value - information. Street samurai are enforcers-for-hire whose combat skills and reflexes make them the ultimate urban predators. And magicians, who possess an ancient gift to wield and shape magical energies, are greatly desired, for obvious reasons. Shadowrunners sell their skills to survive, taking on the extra-legal and dangerous tasks that the corporations are either incapable of doing or unwilling to do themselves. It is in the shadows that a shadowrunner’s reputation is made or unmade.

RPG is a game, as the name says, and, in keeping with that, we don't take things too seriously. We are open to both beginners and experienced RPers but do have an application process and expect a certain level of writing skills. Board Setup: There are two main RP areas on the site: Beyond the Horizon This forum contains “stand alone” stories that are all independent of each other. Timelines/character relationships vary by stories. A Pirate's Life for Me This forum is for a more 'live action' type pirate story. Each forum area (Port Royal and Tortuga) is a self-contained 'world'. Your character may only post in one thread at a time for each of the two locations. Currently, Port Royal is set just prior to DMC and Tortuga is set just after the end of CotBP (both with an assumed Barbossa "resurrection") Link to Posting guidelines for this forum

fairest isle, all isles excelling, seat of pleasure and love, venus here will choose her dwelling
It started with sugarcane. Once Britain had finally come back into power over the little isle of Antigua, the economy flourished due to planting, harvesting, and exporting sugarcane as proposed by Sir Christopher Codrington. Over one hundred and thirty sugarcane mills now line the island's flat terrain, and as the villagers make their way into the 18th century, there seems to be little to fear-- save the occasional drought.
But who knew a little isle such as Antigua would soon serve as refuge to those ever-so-dishonorable types referred to (with a bitter taste in one's mouth, of course) as "pirates"?
The Golden Age of Piracy is about to begin; buccaneers and swashbucklers alike are looking to live eternally through their crimes, through reputation alone, and some are going to the greatest lengths possible to first and foremost earn a name for themselves... secondly, to avoid the gallows. Others are looking for a way out before they're in too deep-- assuming a chance at absolved sins only comes once in a lifetime.
And how are the townsfolk to handle the arrival of men (and women!) who work so hard to rebel against what they know to be tried and true? Simple-- they won't. Secrets are best kept that way, love... in secret.
Sugarcane may have been its start... but where will Antigua end? And where will you be along the way? Just wake me at the zenith of the moon, for it is then our journey begins upon this little Caribbean island.
The Promise of Redemption « Result #7 on Jun 1, 2007, 2:37pm »
The Promise of Redemption starts where Dead Man’s chest left off, on their journey to find Captain Jack Sparrow at world’s end. James Norrington is promoted to Admiral by Lord Cutler Beckett and they have teamed up with Davy Jones, with Beckett controlling with Jones’ beating heart.
New characters are added to the plot, two are female captains; one a pirate with a distant relation to Davy Jones, and another a Lady whose high class has brought her to control one of the most powerful ships in the East India Company. Both women are soon to change the face of the world, and another will rise as well. Beckett’s niece Charlotte Hamilton was one that was very isolated in her youth, but once her parents left her in the care of her Uncle; rebellion began to rise in her.
And somewhere hiding in the midst of Port Royal is another woman, Captain Barbossa’s sister who had once had an affair with Sparrow that had led to the mutiny and the marooning. All of these girls are an important part of this journey to search for Captain Sparrow, that leads to another quest to another corner of the world; Singapore.
Captain Sao Feng of his ship the Empress is a reigning ship in the eastern hemisphere, he prophesizes that one day piracy will be wiped off the face of the earth. Sooner or later it will be, or at least unless the crew of the Black Pearl can steal back the heart of Davy Jones and stop the evil Lord Beckett from his dark deeds.
NOTE: As of now we are only accepting Canon Characters and Created Canon Characters. Once we have enough Canons we will allow Originals. THIS IS AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE TO THE THIRD MOVIE.
They say the Fountain of Youth is a cause for immortality. That was why Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Turner, and William Turner all were after the Fountain's water. Jack had a new ship called The Wicked Witch, one in which he would use until he became his immortal self and could go steal the Pearl back from Barbossa. Elizabeth wanted the water because it would keep her alive for eternity so she could see William once every ten years. And the already immortal William Turner wanted the water because of the backfiring effects it had on already immortalized people.

With all of that in mind, the three took off in their separate ships to find the Fountain of Youth. Seeing that Jack had the map, Elizabeth and William followed behind closely, edging to get to the map. William was immortal, so it didn't matter how many holes the Flying Dutchman received, it would never sink. Elizabeth's crew for The Empress impressively held Jack at bay so the fighting was kept to insults thrown across the seas while they headed towards the place where the Fountain of Youth remained.
When they all arrived, eager to get their hands on the Fountain's water, it was a sheer let down to find out that there was enough for one person and one person only. William would have rather let Elizabeth get hold of the water than Jack, but the greedy captain took what he could and fought for what he wanted. The only reason the water was even downed by one human soul was because of Elizabeth.
To allow one to get the water, there needed to be a group effort. And seeing that either way, William and Elizabeth would be together, they collaborated in few words, all three of them guarding the water with their lives. All three of them willing to stab the other for the drink of life. In due time, however, Elizabeth succumbed to allowing Will to get the water by distracting Jack. And while it did work, there was never a good way to distract Jack, not for Elizabeth.
The woman ended up launching herself at Jack, straddling him to the ground. It didn't help for longer than three seconds, but it was enough for Will to lunge at the Fountain's water. Without further delay, Elizabeth did a replay of a few years ago, pressing her lips to Jack's as she tried to stall to give Will enough time to drink the Fountain's water. Had the Dutchman's captain been watching her, he might have lunged at Jack's throat, but it was inevitable that the ending was what it was.
The only reason all three got out alive was because Jack viciously flipped Elizabeth and turned the tables on her, causing his eyes to momentarily glance up at Will. The whelp had drunken the Fountain's water, the only supply, he was now mortal. It took all Jack had not to kill Will, and all that Elizabeth and Will had to fight Jack off. When they all boarded their ships to leave the cove that the Fountain of Youth was lying in, it was pure hell all over again.
Elizabeth having mixed feelings for her husband and a man she always had a small thing for. Jack willing to do whatever it took to get his revenge on Will, even if it meant taking advantage of Elizabeth. And Will trying to figure out what had happened, his mortal self was now released from captain of the Dutchman. In a final attempt at freedom, the three had relanded themselves in a position quite precarious to one they'd previously been in. Now let the betrayal, lies, and vicious backstabbing begin.
Everyone wants revenge on someone else, who are they willing to use to help get that revenge and how far will it go?
